Archiving Policy
Khidmatuna: Journal of Research and Community Service is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation and accessibility of its scholarly content. To achieve this goal, the journal employs the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system, which is a distributed digital preservation solution.
LOCKSS Archiving
The LOCKSS system operates by creating decentralized and redundant copies of our published articles. Participating libraries and institutions contribute to this effort by hosting copies of our content. This approach ensures that multiple copies of our articles are stored in diverse geographic locations, reducing the risk of data loss and guaranteeing continued access to our content.
Benefits of LOCKSS
The use of LOCKSS provides several advantages for archiving and preservation:
- Redundancy: LOCKSS creates multiple copies of content, preventing single points of failure and enhancing data redundancy.
- Accessibility: LOCKSS ensures that content remains accessible even if the original publisher's website experiences technical issues.
- Continuity: In the event that the journal's primary hosting platform becomes unavailable, the LOCKSS system ensures continued access to our content.
Monitoring and Maintenance
Khidmatuna's technical team regularly monitors the LOCKSS system to ensure its effectiveness and integrity. Any necessary maintenance or updates are promptly carried out to guarantee the long-term preservation of our published articles.
