Screening Plagiarism
At Khidmatuna: Journal of Research and Community Service, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and originality. To ensure the authenticity of the manuscripts we publish, we employ the Turnitin plagiarism detection tool, a widely recognized and trusted software in the academic community.
Turnitin Plagiarism Detection
Turnitin compares submitted manuscripts against a vast database of academic, research, and internet sources, identifying potential instances of plagiarism. The tool generates a similarity report that highlights matches between the submitted content and existing materials, including direct quotes, paraphrased text, and other similarities.
Maximum Allowable Similarity Index
Khidmatuna adheres to a maximum similarity index of 30%, with the exception of a single reference contributing up to 25% similarity. This index takes into account all types of similarities, whether intentional or unintentional. Manuscripts that exceed this threshold undergo a thorough editorial review to assess the extent and nature of the similarities.
Addressing Plagiarism
In the event that potential instances of plagiarism are detected:
- Initial Review: The editorial team carefully examines the Turnitin similarity report to determine the nature and scope of the similarities.
- Author Notification: Authors are promptly notified if significant similarities are identified. They are given the opportunity to review the report and address any unintentional similarities or improper citations.
- Revision and Resubmission: If similarities are detected, authors are required to revise their manuscripts to appropriately attribute sources and address the similarities. Revised manuscripts are resubmitted for further evaluation.
- Reevaluation: After revisions are made, the revised manuscript is once again screened using Turnitin to ensure that the similarity index falls within acceptable limits.
Ethical Considerations
Khidmatuna takes any potential instances of plagiarism seriously and handles them in accordance with established guidelines and best practices. Our priority is to maintain a fair and transparent evaluation process while upholding the principles of academic integrity.
