Crossmark Policy
Experimental Student Experiences (ESE) is a participant in the Crossmark initiative to provide a standard way for readers to locate the authoritative version of a published article. The Crossmark icon, when clicked, will inform readers about the current status of the document and may contain additional information about the publication.
What is Crossmark?
Crossmark is a multi-publisher initiative facilitated by CrossRef. It aims to provide readers with the ability to easily identify if a published article has been updated, corrected, retracted, or supplemented with additional content. The Crossmark icon is prominently displayed on the title page of the article and indicates that the publisher is committed to maintaining the integrity and completeness of the scholarly record.
Crossmark at ESE
ESE participates in the Crossmark initiative to ensure that our readers have access to the most up-to-date and reliable version of our published articles. The Crossmark icon will be displayed on the title page of the article, and clicking on it will provide readers with the current status of the document, including any updates, corrections, or retractions.
Types of Crossmark Updates
The following types of updates can be associated with an article on Crossmark:
-
Updates: The article has received minor corrections or updates that do not affect the overall findings or conclusions.
-
Corrections: The article has been amended to rectify significant errors or inaccuracies that may impact the interpretation or credibility of the research.
-
Retractions: The article has been withdrawn from the scholarly record due to significant errors, ethical concerns, or other reasons that invalidate its conclusions.
-
Additions: Additional content, such as supplementary materials, has been incorporated into the article to enhance its value or provide further context.
Checking Crossmark Status
Readers can easily check the Crossmark status of an article by clicking on the Crossmark icon displayed on the title page. The pop-up window will display the current status and any associated updates or corrections. If the article has been retracted, the reason for the retraction will be provided.
