Correction and Retraction

Experimental Student Experiences (ESE) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of scholarly publishing and takes responsibility for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the content we publish. In cases where errors or misconduct are identified after publication, ESE will follow the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) Guidelines for Retracting Articles to address the situation appropriately.

Correction

Minor Errors

For minor errors identified in published articles, such as typographical errors, formatting issues, or minor factual errors that do not significantly impact the overall validity or conclusions of the research, ESE will issue a correction notice. The correction notice will be published as an "Erratum" linked to the original article, detailing the nature of the error and the necessary corrections.

Major Errors

In cases where substantial errors or inaccuracies are identified that significantly affect the scientific content, interpretation, or conclusions of a published article, ESE will promptly evaluate the situation. If the errors are deemed correctable, the journal will publish a "Correction" notice providing accurate information and clarifications. The correction notice will be linked to the original article for easy reference.

Retraction

Misconduct or Unreliable Data

If serious ethical misconduct is detected, such as data fabrication, data falsification, plagiarism, or any other violation of ethical standards, ESE will initiate a retraction process following the COPE Guidelines for Retracting Articles. The retraction notice will clearly state the reasons for retraction, identify the issues in the article, and explain why the article is being retracted. The retracted article will be clearly labeled as "Retracted" and withdrawn from further circulation.

Unethical Publication Practices

In cases where unethical publication practices are discovered, such as redundant publication, duplicate submission, or undisclosed conflicts of interest that significantly impact the reliability of the published work, ESE will take appropriate actions following the COPE Guidelines for Retracting Articles. The retraction notice will provide a clear explanation for the retraction decision and ensure the reasons for retraction are publicly available.

Initiating Corrections or Retractions

The decision to issue a correction or initiate a retraction will be made by the Editorial Board in consultation with the authors, reviewers, and relevant experts. Authors will be given an opportunity to respond to any concerns and provide clarifications before any decision is finalized.
